Clinical Topics
PediatricsThis session will provide an overview of risk factors and common causes of concussion/ mTBI in school-age children and review the signs and symptoms of concussion/ mTBI in youth. The presenters will review typical emergency or inpatient treatment and provide tools to create patient-specific plans to return to school, play, and learning. Strategies to prevent concussion/ mTBI will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives
This session will allow participants to:
Review risk factors and common causes of concussion/ mTBI in school-age children
- Identify signs and symptoms of concussion/ mTBI and recognize when to seek emergency treatment
- Review typical emergency or inpatient treatment
- Identify tools to create patient-specific plans to return to school, play, and learning
- Understand strategies to prevent injury
